Australia Introduces New Species for Use in Mushrooms for human consumption

On June 4th, 2024, the Australian Government - Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry issued new permitted species under the “Mushrooms for human consumption”.
The key points are highlighted below:
- Macrolepiota albuminosa (syn. Termitomyces albuminosus), Tylopilus felleus, and Lignosus rhinocerus (syn. Polyporus rhinocerus) have been added to the list;
- The above-mentioned species may be permitted entry into Australian territory subject to the import requirements;

No changes to the import conditions for the restricted medicinal species included in the modifications;
- This notice affects Importers and brokers of dried, fresh, and frozen mushrooms.
