Australia Updates Import Conditions for Fresh Tomatoes from New Zealand

eu-proposes-import-tolerances-for-the-pesticide-deltamethrin (2) (1)-4On June 11th, 2024, the Australian Government - Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry updated requirements to allow trade on the “Import Conditions for Fresh Tomatoes from New Zealand” for human consumption.

The import conditions allowed are as follows:

  • Fresh Tomatoes grown according to the New Zealand Code of Practice will be permitted;
  • Tomatoes shall meet the new import requirements as established on BICON;
  • Fresh truss tomatoes will not be permitted to be imported into Australia;
  • This notice affects Traders and Logistics handlers;

The changes will come into effect on June 21st, 2024.
