On December 3, 2024, the Australian Government, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, established “Import Conditions of Standard Permits for Microalgae”.
The key points are as follows:
- The standard permit now allows microalgae products to contain ingredients from the department's list of highly refined organic chemicals and substance;
- Ingredients such as sugars, glucose, and gum products are now permissible in microalgae goods under the updated permit;
- Importers with permits issued before this date can apply for a variation or obtain a new standard permit to benefit from these changes.
The rule is effective from December 3, 2024.
