On May 15, 2019, the Canadese Federal Health Department released the “ Notice of Modification to the List of Permitted Sweeteners to Enable the Use of Steviol Glycosides from Saccharomyces cerevisiae CD15380 and CD15407 in a Variety of Foods.“
Previously, the use of steviol glycosides was already permitted in Canada as sweeteners in various unstandardized foods. Now with the evaluation of Health Canada’s Food Directorate, the use of steviol glycosides from S. cerevisiae CD15380 and S. Cerevisiae CD15407 is accepted.
Changes have immediate effect.
