On May 20, 2021, Health Canada's Food Directorate issued regulation on the approval for the use of the food additive on “Notice of Modification to the List of Permitted Firming Agents to Potassium aluminum sulphate Enable the Use of Potassium Aluminum Sulphate in Salted Jellyfish”. The additive is already permitted for use as a firming agent in unstandardized foods, pickles and relishes, and sea urchin roe.
