On August 3rd, 2023, Health Canada's Food Directorate released a safety evaluation on the “Use of Xylanase from Trichoderma reesei RF5427 in various foods”. The notice amends the list of permitted food enzymes.
The scope of the document summarizes as follows:
- Approves the safety of use of food enzyme Xylanase from Trichoderma reesei RF5427;
- T. reesei RF5427 is permitted for use in products such as Bread, Brewer’s mash, whole wheat flour, etc.;
- The maximum use level of this enzyme shall comply with the Industrial Good Manufacturing Practices.
The regulation is effective from August 3rd, 2023.
