Canada Proposed Maximum Residue Limits on Methoprene in Dairy Product

On May 18, 2021, Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA), under the authority of Pest Control Products act had issued draft regulation on “Proposed Maximum Residue Limit PMRL2021-15, Methoprene.”
The information reported in the regulation is herein summarized:
- Evaluation of S-methoprene use indicated that the end-use product has value and pose no risk and concerns associated to the human health and environment.
- The use levels for the proposed MRL for Methoprene in the food commodity of milk is established at 0.01ppm.
- Residues in milk at the proposed MRL will not pose an unacceptable risk to any segment of the population, including infants, children, adults and seniors.
- Addition of a new use on dairy cattle to the labels of the liquid feed supplements to which is added Altosid 1% Liquid MUP, containing technical grade S-methoprene, is acceptable.
The draft is open for public comments until August 01, 2021.
