On December 21st, 2021, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) issued a draft regulation on “Proposed Maximum Residue Limit PMRL2021-31, Flutianil” on various fruits and vegetables to control various species of powdery mildew.
The scope of the document highlights the following points:
- The proposed MRLs were specified on the following food commodities such as Small fruits vine climbing, except fuzzy kiwifruit, low growing berries, cherries, squash, cucumbers, apples, and melons;
- The proposed MRLs for low growing berries is 0.5 ppm, cherries 0.4 ppm, apples 0.15 ppm, etc.;
- Dietary risks from the consumption of these foods are found to be acceptable as per the directions of use indicated in the pesticides label;
- Foods containing residues are safe for consumption with no adverse effect on human health.
The proposed draft is open for public consultation period until March 05th, 2022.
