Canada Proposes Maximum Residue Limit on Spiromesifen

eu-proposes-import-tolerances-for-the-pesticide-deltamethrin (9) (1)On September 26, 2024, the Health Canada issued a consultation on the “Proposed Maximum Residue Limit PMRL2024-20 Spiromesifen”.

The draft summarizes the following points:

  • Applies to imported Oranges and Citrus oil to ensure safe import and sale;
  • The study indicates the residue levels when used as directed are safe for consumption;
  • The risk assessment process includes evaluating pesticide toxicity, determining acceptable dietary levels, estimating human exposure, and comparing it to acceptable limits;
  • The proposed maximum residue limits (MRLs) are set at 30 ppm for Citrus oil and 0.15 ppm for Oranges;
  • The Proposed MRLs align with U.S. tolerances and Codex MRLs ensuring consistency.

This consultation is valid till December 10, 2024.
