On January 28, 2025, Health Canada issued a consultation on “Proposed Maximum Residue Limit PMRL 2025-02, Tebuconazole”.
The key points of the proposal are given below:
- The aim is to revoke the current grape MRL of 5.0 ppm;
- Tebuconazole residues will now be limited to 0.1 ppm under subsection B.15.002(1) of the Food and Drug Regulations;
- The proposed MRL differs from U.S. and Codex MRL standards but aligns with international trade obligations for global recognition;
- The updated risk assessments for tebuconazole confirm safety with reduced use;
- The revised MRL for Tebuconazole in grapes complies with the regulatory requirements.
The Consultation is open for public comments till 13 April, 2025.
