China Proposes Addition of Edible period to the Labels of Low-temperature Dairy products with Short-Shelf life
On June 04, 2021, the State Administration for Market Regulation announced the addition of expiration date on the packaging labels of Low temperature short-life dairy products.
The proposal highlights the following key points for consumer awareness:
- Easy identification of expiration date.
- Shelf life no longer than 14 days for Pasteurized milk and 30 days for Fermented milk, on the basis of existing production date.
- The label content should comply with National Food Safety Standard Pre-packaged Product Standards General Rules (GB7718-2011).
- Label must be eye catching and easy to read.
The draft is open for public comments until July 04, 2021.
