Denmark Issues Consultation on Authorizing the Use of Genetically Modified Maize Variant

eu-proposes-import-tolerances-for-the-pesticide-deltamethrin (4) (1)-3On August 2nd, 2024, the Department of Civil Affairs, Danish Ministry of Justice proposed consultation on "Authorizing Genetically Modified Maize MON95275 for food and feed use” per Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003.

The notice summarizes the following points:

  • On August 1, 2024, EFSA considered the variant safe for use, similar to non-GM maize, supporting its expected approval by the European Commission;
  • Maize MON95275 is genetically modified for beetle resistance, maintaining its use like other maize products;
  • The application covers only the import and processing, not its cultivation in the EU.

The public consultation is valid till September 2, 2024.
