The 22nd ATP: Regulation status
On January 18th 2024, the European Commission published a draft proposal of what will become the 22nd ATP (Adaptation to Technical Progress), offering a preview what amendments to Reg. 1272/2008 will be issued in the future.
Further news regarding the 22nd ATP are now available, as last June 19th the 22nd ATP text has been officially adopted.
The 22nd ATP adopted text: what’s new?
The purpose of the now adopted text of 22nd ATP is to amend Table 3 of Part 3 of Annex VI to the CLP Regulation by introducing 27 new harmonised classifications, modifying 16 preexisting entries and deleting one harmonised classification (Index 029-024-00-X).
The 22nd ATP: when will it enter into force?
As usual procedure for ATPs, the adopted text will now enter a two-month period of scrutiny. After the scrutiny period passes, the Regulation will be then published in the EU Official Journal. Twenty days after publication, the 22nd ATP will come into force, with an 18 months transitional period. After this transitional period has passed (around March 2026), its implementation will become mandatory.
