EU Modification of Existing Maximum Residue Levels for Prosulfocarb in Herbs and Edible Flowers

On May 18th, 2022, the European Food Safety Authority published an article on the “Modification of the existing maximum residue levels for Prosulfocarb in herbs and edible flowers” in accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005.

 

The document summarizes the following:

  • Modification of MRLs for the group of herbs and edible flowers such as chives, celery leaves, sage, etc.;
  • Adequate analytical methods are available to control the residues under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg;
  • Risk assessment results indicate the short-term and long-term intake of residues pose no risk to consumer health;
  • The toxicological profile was sufficient to derive an acceptable daily intake of 0.005 mg/kg body weight/day;
  • MRLs were derived at 20 mg/kg for the proposed commodities;
  • The use levels and recommended intakes do not raise safety concerns.
