On September 13th, 2021, the European Food Safety Authority published the Regulation on “Modification of the existing maximum residue levels for proquinazid in blueberries and cranberries” in accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005.
The document outlines the following:
- Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. It is noted that a lower MRL at the LOQ of 0.01 mg/kg is proposed to be implemented according to Draft Regulation SANTE/10034/2020;
- The limits of Blueberries and Cranberries is proposed at 1.5 mg/kg;
- Blueberries and Cranberries as residues in livestock are not used for feed purposes;
- Short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of proquinazid according to the reported agricultural practices is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health.
