On August 25th, 2022, the European Food Safety Authority’s scientific opinions published a regulation on the “Modification of the existing maximum residue levels for Acetamiprid in Honey and various Oilseed Crops” in accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005.
The scope of the document includes the following key points:
- Modification of the MRLs for the following food commodities such as honey, linseeds, poppy seeds, mustard seeds, and gold of pleasure seeds;
- Adequate analytical methods are available to control the residues of Acetamiprid;
- The limit of quantification (LOQ) is established at 0.01 mg/kg in plant matrices and honey;
- The maximum residue limits for Acetamiprid are amended from the existing 0.01 mg/kg to 0.06 mg/kg in linseeds and gold of pleasure seeds;
- Further risk management considerations are required for honey, mustard seeds, and poppy seeds to derive the limits;
- Risk assessment studies indicate that the short-term and long-term intakes of residues, as per the reported agricultural practices, are unlikely to pose a risk to consumer health.
