On August 16th, 2022, the Federal Public Service (FPS) Health, Food chain Safety and Environment submitted a scientific document to the European Commission to publish the “Modification of the existing maximum residue level for Pyridate in Chives ” in accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005.
The scientific document highlights the following changes:
- The data submitted was found to be sufficient to derive MRL for Chives;
- Adequate analytical methods are available to control the residues of pyridate on the commodity;
- The limit of quantification (LOQ) is established at 0.05 mg/kg pyridate equivalent;
- The maximum residue limits for Chives are amended from the existing 0.05 mg/kg to 1.5 mg/kg;
- Risk assessment studies indicate the short-term and long-term intake of residues as per the reported agricultural practice is unlikely to pose a risk to consumer health.
