On March 16th, 2022, the European Food Safety Authority published an article on “Setting of import tolerances for deltamethrin in mangoes and papayas” in accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005.
The document highlights the following:
- The scientific data was found to be sufficient to derive maximum residue level (MRL) proposals for mangoes and papayas;
- Adequate analytical methods are available to control the residues in plant matrices under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg;
- MRLs for mangoes and papayas were derived at 0.05 mg/kg and 0.1 mg/kg, respectively;
- The risk assessment results indicate the short‐term and long‐term intake of residues is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health;
- The risk assessment shall be regarded as indicative until further notice.
