EU Reviews the Existing Maximum Residue Levels for Metobromuron

On September 29th, 2021, the European Food Safety Authority published a safety assessment on “Review of the existing maximum residue levels for metobromuron according to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005”.
The key points are summarized as follows:
- Assessment of the occurrence of metobromuron residues in plants, processed commodities, rotational crops, and livestock;
- Conclusions derived in the framework of Commission Regulation (EU) No 188/2011, as well as the European authorizations, was considered;
- Safety evaluation shows no apparent risk to consumers, certain information required by the regulatory framework was missing;
- Consumer risk assessment is considered indicative only and all MRL proposals derived require further consideration by risk managers.
