EU Reviews the Existing Maximum Residue Levels for Tetraconazole
On January 28th, 2022, the European Food Safety Authority published the “Review of the existing maximum residue levels for tetraconazole according to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005”.
The scope of the safety assessment summarizes the following:
- To assess the occurrence of Tetraconazole residues in plants, processed commodities, rotational crops, and livestock;
- No modification of the existing EU MRL was proposed with the exception of the MRL for Kaki was recommended;
- The consumer risk assessment is considered indicative only;
- Indicative exposure assessments were performed for Triazole derivative metabolites (TDMs), and no risk to consumers was identified;
- Further investigation is required to ensure data is available to finalize the overall risk assessment for Triazole fungicides.
