The 13th ATP of CLP
On October 5th 2018, Regulation (UE) n. 2018/1480 has been published on the Official Journal of the European Union
The name “13th ATP” is a common naming standard and it is not how the European Commission defines its CLP updates through Regulations. The regulation n. 2018/1480 in fact was published before the 12th ATP, while this latter regulation was published on the Official Journal only on March 28th 2019 and will align the CLP criteria with the 6th and 7th editions of the UN GHS.
The 13 th ATP updates Annex VI of the regulation 1272/2008 (CLP) by adding 16 new harmonised classifications and by modifying the classification of 18 substances already included in Annex VI. Many of these substances are widely used in the chemical industry, like Sodium hypochlorite and Salicylic acid.
13th ATP, when does it apply?
The 13th ATP came into force on May 1st 2020. This regulation is mandatory in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States with no derogation period
