On July 18th, 2024, EFSA published the “Modification of the existing Maximum Residue Level for Methoxyfenozide in Aubergines” as per EC No 396/2005.
Following are the key points summarized in the document:
- The current MRL for Methoxyfenozide in Aubergines, set at 0.6 mg/kg, is proposed to be reduced to 0.3 mg/kg at the request of Belgium's FPS Health, Food Chain Safety, and Environment;
- EFSA used the Pesticide Residues Intake Model (PRIMo) to assess consumer risk, confirming that both short-term and long-term exposures do not pose a significant risk to consumer health;
- Long-term dietary intake is minimal, representing only 0.02% of the acceptable daily intake (ADI) for adults, indicating low consumption risk;
- The modification ensures compliance with EU pesticide residue standards, as EFSA found minimal consumer health risk.
