FDA Taiwan Publishes Regulation on Limits of Fish Oil as Food Ingredient

On December 28, 2020, the Food and Drug Administration Taiwan published “Limits on the use of fish oil as food raw materials”.
In accordance with Article 15 of the Second Paragraph of the Food Safety and Health Administration Law, the scope of the document outlines the below-
Fish oil for food raw materials shall comply with the following regulations:
- The source is traditional edible fish.
- Daily consumption of Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), the total amount must not exceed two grams.
- Fish oil for use in specific disease formulations for EPA and DHA, the total amount must not exceed five grams.
The regulation is effective from December 28, 2020.
