India Issues Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Amendment Regulation, 2022

On May 18th, 2022, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India published the article “Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Amendment Regulations, 2022” in accordance with the Food Safety Standards act of 2006.
The document proposes the following:
- The draft regulations to further amend the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Regulations, 2018;
- Products made of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) may be used for packaging, storing, carrying, or dispensing of food products;
- Applicable when standards and guidelines are notified by the Food Authority;
- Packaging materials shall comply with any other national standards/regulations as applicable.
