Japan Partially Amends Compositional Standards for Milk and Milk Products

On June 01, 2020, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW)(厚生労働省) of Japan has issued the "Partial Amendment of Ministerial Ordinance on Milk and Milk products Concerning Compositional Standards, etc.(MHW Ordinance No. 112 of 2020)."
Content of the amendment:
- The definition of milk remains exploited as "raw milk";
- Definition of "raw milk" is added to definition of milk, processed milk and some dairy products;
- New standards are established for dairy products containing raw milk or buffalo milk;
Changes are effective from the publication date.
