Japan Partially Amends Specifications and Standards for Foods, Food additives - July 2020

On July 14, 2020, Japan notified the publication of the "Partial Amendment of Specifications And Standards for Foods, Food additives, etc. (MHLW Notification No. 0714 No. 1 of 2020)" on the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW).
The amendment introduces new residual reference values for the multiple pesticides, applied on various food commodities.
Substances involved are the following: Aldrin & Dieldrin, Isofetamid, Ipflufenoquin, Carbaryl, Carbosulfan, Carbofuran, 1,3-dichloropropene, Dazomet, Metam and Methyl isothiocyanate, Benfuracarb.
The residual standard value for food listed in the regulation shall be applied from the day on which one year has elapsed from the date of notification.
