
Japan Publishes Partial Amendment on the Food Labeling Standards

On June 29, 2023, the Consumer Affairs Agency of Japan published a regulation on the “Partial amendment of food labeling standards" per section 13 of the Food Sanitation law.
The scope of the document includes the following points:
- Food such as Infant Formula, Infant Food for special medical purposes, etc., specified in the regulation shall comply with Infant standards;
- The label shall clearly indicate the Infant Food is subjected to the standards for radioactive substances based on the food sanitation law;
- The standard prohibits misleading consumers of foods that are not Infant Foods;
The regulation is effective from June 29, 2023.
