Korea Amends the Special Act On Imported Food Safety Management

On April 23, 2019, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MSDF) of Korea proposed the amendment No. 16401 to the “Special Act On Imported Food Safety Management.”
Changes will affect the following points:
- Conditions applied to on-site inspections of overseas manufacturing establishments;
- Acceptance of the Director of the Food and Drug Administration to submit the application for the registration of overseas workplaces with no on-site inspection;
- Hygiene education dedicated to employees;
- Directives regarding safety support for exported foods.
The amendment enters into force from the date of its publication.
