Korea Issues Partial Amendment on Nutrition Standards for High-Calorie Foods with Low Nutritional Value

On June 16, 2023, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of Korea published a regulation on the “Nutrition Standards for High-Calorie Foods with Low Nutritional Value” per Article 46 of the Administrative Procedure Act.
The document highlights the following points for consideration:
- Article 3{1) replaces the text “Food substitute" with "meal replacement”;
- Soup noodles/noodles are now referred to as “noodles (applicable only to container noodles);
- Meal replacement standards for Children’s favorite food have been revised for Sodium, Saturated Fat, etc.
The draft is open for public comments until July 06, 2023.
