On July 25, 2018, Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety(MFDS) released new amendments for the “Standards and Specifications for Food” which includes the creation of the category for Elderly-Friendly Food.
Elderly-Friendly Food refers to food that are manufactured or processed by adjusting food properties, making it easier to digest or adjusting nutritional components to help the elderly people eat or digest food.
In this amendment food hardness (less than 500,000N/m2) and nutritional content standards were newly established.
