New Zealand Proposes to Amend the Food Notice on Agricultural Compounds

On September 12th, 2023, New Zealand’s Ministry of Primary Industries published a regulation on the "Proposals to Amend the New Zealand (Maximum Residue Levels for Agricultural Compounds) Food Notice” per section 405 of the Food Act 2014.
The scope of the notice highlights the following key points:
- Proposal to make changes to Schedule 1 of the regulation;
- Amendment of the following pesticides such as Fenpyrazamine, Fenpyroximate, Fluxapyroxad, etc.;
- Maximum residue limits for Fenpyrazamine in grapes is 0.05mg/kg, Fluxapyroxad is 0.15mg/kg, etc.;
- The new residual limit for Fenpyroximate in Avocado is 0.15mg/kg;
- The risk associated with chronic dietary exposure is unlikely to pose any health concerns to consumers.
The proposal is open for a consultation period until November 13th, 2023.
