Singapore Amends Food Regulations 2023 on Veterinary Drug Residues

On April 18, 2023, the Singapore Food Agency issued a regulation under section 56(1) of the Sale of Food Act 1973 “Food (Amendment) Regulations 2023 on Veterinary Drug Residues”.
The following changes to the food regulation include:
- Replacement of regulations 32 and 33 with “Residual Antimicrobial agent” and “Veterinary drug residues”;
- Zeranol has been excluded from the 9th schedule;
- Class IV chemical preservative Nisin has been added to the 19th regulation;
- Food business operators shall comply with Regulation 33 and the new Eighteenth Schedule.
The regulation will come into operation on April 28, 2023.
