On July 26, 2018, Singapore introduced a new agency called “Singapore Food Agency (SFA),“ which will act under the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (MEWR) to take care of food security and safety.
SFA will act as a consolidated body of food related activities which was earlier taken care by the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), the Health Sciences Authority (HSA), and the National Environment Agency (NEA). The unification of all these bodies will reduce the food related regulatory errors and will enhance food safety. SFA will also deliver prominent value to Singaporeans and it will act as a business-friendly agency.
