On September 14th, 2021, the Singapore Food Agency published the notice on "Food (Amendment) Regulations 2021".
The notice outlines the following:
- The set of amendments changes the Food Regulations to allow the use of new food additives, ingredients and extend the use of existing food additives;
- Revises the maximum limits for heavy metals in food to be in line with international standards;
- Ensures coherence in the legislation;
- Traders are advised to ensure that food products available for sale on or after October 1st, 2021, must comply with the requirements.
The regulation is effective from October 1st, 2021.
