Taiwan Amends the Regulations on the Import of U.S. and Canadian Beef and its Products

On June 15, 2023, the Food and Drug Administration of Taiwan published an amendment to the regulation on the “Import of U.S. and Canadian Beef and Its Products”.
The scope of the document includes the following points-
- Beef and Cattle must be raised up to 100days in US and Canada;
- The factories exporting products shall be approved by Competent authorities;
- Mandatory veterinarian supervision is required during the pre and post-slaughter inspections;
- Skull, brain, eyes, etc., are not allowed for import;
- The certificate shall be approved for export by USDA or CFIA for US and Canada, respectively;
- The products must comply with relevant provisions of the Food Safety and Sanitation Management Law.
The regulation is effective from June 15, 2023.
