On 13th August 2024, the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Agriculture issued a guide on the “Nutritional Claims under the Turkish Food Codex Regulation”.

The document summarizes the following:

  • The guide sets standards for nutritional claims on food labels and commercials to ensure clarity, prevent misinformation, and guide compliance;
  • Nutritional claims must be clear and accurate, special legislation takes precedence where applicable;
  • Nutritional statements must follow Annex-1 and comparative claims are only allowed between foods of the same product name and category;
  • Foods claiming "no added sugar" must not contain added monosaccharides or disaccharides.
