U.S Establishes the Maximum Residues Limits for Pesticides Buprofezin and Novaluron

On March 10th, 2022, the U.S Federal Register published a regulation by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency on “Buprofezin; Pesticide Tolerances” and “Novaluron; Pesticide Tolerances”.
The scope of the document is summarized below:
- The residue tolerance of Buprofezin is applicable in or on beans and its varieties bush berry subgroup 13-07b, cowpea, etc.;
- The residue tolerance of Novaluron is applicable in or on Almond, hulls, and the Nut, tree, group 14–12;
- The established residue levels in or on almond, hulls at 15 ppm; the Nut, tree, group 14–12 at 0.08 ppm; Beans and its varieties at 0.02 ppm and Bushberry at 0.08 ppm;
- Risk assessment data ensures the safety of infants and the general population is adequately protected based on the Toxicological profile and dietary exposure;
- Short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of tolerance on these food products is unlikely to pose a health risk to consumers.
The regulation is effective from March 10th, 2022.
