U.S. Establishes Pesticides Tolerances for Methoxyfenozide in Various Crops

On October 11th, 2022, the US Federal Register - FDA Animal drugs and feeds published an article by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency on “Methoxyfenozide; Pesticide Tolerances, 40 CFR 180.544, 87 FR 61259” under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA).
The document highlights the following key points for consideration:
- Tolerances were established for residues of Methoxyfenozide in or on multiple crops such as Bean, adzuki, dry seed at 0.5 ppm; Pea, green, edible-podded at 2 ppm, etc.;
- Regional registration tolerances are established for Rice, grain at 30 ppm; and Rice, hulls at 55 ppm;
- The following tolerances are removed as unnecessary due to the establishment of new tolerances: Longan; Lychee; Pea and bean, dried shelled, except soybean, subgroup 6C, etc.;
- Dietary exposure and toxicological profile indicate the safety of food commodities on consumption by the general population including infants and children.
This regulation is effective from October 11th, 2022.
