US Establishes Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticide Thiamethoxam

On June 15th, 2022, the U.S Federal Register published an article by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency on “Thiamethoxam; Pesticide Tolerances, 40 CFR 180.565, 87 FR 3607”.
The document highlights the following:
- The residue tolerance of Thiamethoxam including its metabolites and degradates, in or on pineapple is 0.04 ppm;
- Maximum Residue Limits established in or on pineapple, process residue at 0.06 ppm;
- Risk assessment data ensures that the safety of infants and the general population is adequately protected;
- Short‐term, intermediate-term, and chronic exposures of residues resulting from the tolerance of these food products are unlikely to pose a health risk to consumers.
This regulation is effective June 15th, 2022.
