On December 15th, 2021, the U.S Federal register published a regulation by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency on various pesticides tolerances namely: MCPA; Pesticide Tolerances, Pyflubumide; Pesticide Tolerances; Mefentrifluconazole; Pesticide Tolerances.
The scope of the document summarizes the following:
- The regulation establishes tolerances for residues of MCPA and Mefentrifluconazole in or on banana, coffee, and green bean;
- Tolerances for residues of Pyflubumide is applicable in or on tea, dried and tea, instant;
- Pesticide tolerances are established for residues of Mefentrifluconazole and MCPA in or on banana at 1.5 ppm and coffee, green bean, at 0.4 ppm;
- Tolerance established for the residues of Pyflubumide, including its metabolites and degradates, in or on tea, dried at 80 ppm and tea, instant at 80 ppm;
- The data indicates the safety of infants and children would be protected based on the Toxicological profile and dietary exposure;
- Short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of tolerance on these food products is unlikely to pose a health risk to consumers.
The regulation is effective from December 15th, 2021.
