US Establishes Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticide Saflufenacil

On February 2nd, 2024, the U.S Federal Register published a regulation by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency on “Saflufenacil; Pesticide Tolerances; 40 CFR Part 180.649”.
The scope of the document summarizes the following:
- Residues of Saflufenacil tolerance are established in or on corn, field, forage; corn, field, stover; and corn, field, milled by-products;
- The regulation amends the existing commodity definition for Crop Group 16 to Crop Group 16–22;
- Removal of the established tolerance in or on Grain, cereal, forage, fodder, and straw group 16 (except barley and wheat straw) at 0.1 ppm;
- Maximum residue limits have been set for Corn, field, forage at 0.4 ppm; Corn, field, milled byproducts at 0.2 ppm, etc.;
- Dietary exposure study indicates no harm to the general population, infants, and children on consumption of these food products.
The regulation is effective from February 2nd, 2024.
