US Establishes Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides Spinetoram

On December 21st, 2021, the U.S Federal Register published a regulation by the U.S environmental protection agency on “Spinetoram; Pesticide Tolerances, 40 CFR 180.635, 86 FR 72190”.
The scope of the document summarizes the following key points:
- The residues of Spinetoram are applicable, in or on fish, freshwater, finfish fish, shellfish, mollusc, forage, fodder and hay, animal feed, etc;
- Pesticides tolerances are established for residues in or on fish, freshwater, finfish at 4 ppm; fish, shellfish, crustacean at 4 ppm; fish, shellfish, molluscs at 4 ppm, etc.;
- The data ensures the safety of infants and children is adequately protected based on Toxicological profile and dietary exposure;
- Short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of tolerance on these food products is unlikely to pose a health risk to consumers.
The regulation is effective from December 21st, 2021.
