US Establishes Maximum Residues Limits for Pesticide Bicyclopyrone

On March 18^th, 2022, the U.S Federal Register published a regulation by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency on “Bicyclopyrone; Pesticide Tolerances, 40 CFR 180.682, 87 FR 15335”.

The document highlights the following:

• The tolerance of residues of Bicyclopyrone is applicable in or on banana, broccoli, hop, dried cones, horseradish, papaya, strawberry, etc.;
• The established residue levels in or on residues of this pesticides, including its metabolites and degradates in or on a banana at 0.01 ppm; broccoli at 0.01 ppm; hop, dried cones at 0.04 ppm; horseradish at 0.02 ppm; papaya at 0.01 ppm; strawberry at 0.01 ppm, etc.;
• Risk assessment data ensures the safety of infants and the general population is adequately protected based on Toxicological profile and dietary exposure;
• Short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of tolerance on these food products is unlikely to pose a health risk to consumers.

The regulation is effective from March 18^th, 2022.
