US Establishes Maximum Residues Limits for Pesticide Picarbutrazox and Teflubenzuron

On June 06th, 2022, the U.S Federal Register published an article by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency on “Picarbutrazox; Pesticide Tolerances, 40 CFR 180.718, 87 FR 34203” and “Teflubenzuron; Pesticide Tolerances, 40 CFR 180.687, 87 FR 34206”.
The scope of the document is herein summarized:
- The residue tolerance of Picarbutrazox is applicable in or on the straw group, herb group, rapeseed subgroup, spice group at 0.01 ppm, etc.;
- The residue tolerance of Teflubenzuron is applicable in or on grape and grape raisin;
- The maximum residue limits were established for Teflubenzuron, in or on grape at 0.7 ppm; and grape, and raisin, at 0.9 ppm;
- Risk assessment data ensures that the safety of infants and the general population is adequately protected;
- Short‐term or intermediate-term exposures to residues resulting from the tolerance on these food products are unlikely to pose a health risk to consumers.
This regulation is effective June 6th, 2022.
