On July 05th, 2022, the U.S Federal Register published an article by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency on “Pyriofenone; Pesticide Tolerances, CFR 180.660, 87 FR 39752”.
The document highlights the following:
- The tolerances for residues of Pyriofenone apply in or on the subgroups of tomato 8-10A, pepper/eggplant 8-10B;
- The regulation removes the established tolerance for the vegetable, fruiting, group 8–10, and the expired tolerance for the fruit, small vine climbing subgroup 13–07D;
- Maximum Residue Limits established in or on tomato 8-10A at 0.2 ppm, pepper/eggplant 8-10B at 2 ppm;
- Risk assessment data ensures that the safety of infants and the general population is adequately protected;
- Short‐term, intermediate-term, and chronic exposures of residues resulting from the tolerance of these food products are unlikely to pose a health risk to consumers.
This regulation is effective from July 05th, 2022.
