US Publishes Tolerance Exemption for Pseudomonas oryzihabitans Strain SYM23945 in Food Commodities

On March 27, 2025, the US Federal Register published “Tolerance Exemption for Pseudomonas oryzihabitans Strain SYM23945” per 40 CFR 180.

The key points are as follows:

  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has exempted the strain from tolerance requirements when used according to label directions and good agricultural practices; 
  • Scientific evaluation confirms it poses no significant risk to human health, including infants and children;
  • The exemption complies with Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) safety standards, ensuring no harm to food safety or the environment.
  • 40 CFR § 180 has been amended to reflect this exemption, eliminating the need for tolerance levels.

This regulation is effective March 27, 2025, and objections and requests for hearings must be received on or before May 27, 2025.
